Klostertal & Arlberg region
A little less well known - but that's exactly what makes it so attractive. In Klostertal, you hike along streams, through dense forests and to tranquil Alps. For those who like it more alpine, the Arlberg is just around the corner.

Hiking tip #1
Our local mountain: Muttersberg
It starts right outside the hotel door - our local mountain, the Muttersberg. Hike directly from the hotel and reach the inn in approx. 1 1/2 hours. If you want a more leisurely start, take the Muttersberg cable car (approx. 15 minutes' walk). Once at the top, there are several options: A stop at the inn, a short circular walk with a view, a detour to the Elsalpe or - for a little more altitude - a hike on to the Hoher Fraßen (1,979 m). You will be rewarded with sweeping views of the Große Walsertal, Montafon and Rätikon. Both the Elseralpe and the Hohe Fraßen are open in summer.
Duration: 2.5 h depending on the variant
Length: 5-11 km
Ascent & descent: 300 to 600 vertical meters
Starting point: Hotel Daneu Nüziders or Muttersberg cable car valley station
Hiking tip #2
Bürserschlucht & Alpe Rona
From the hotel, you can walk or take the bus to Bürs. There the hike begins through the impressive Bürserschlucht gorge - a natural monument with narrow rock faces, waterfalls and wooden walkways. At the upper end of the gorge, the trail continues up towards Tschengla. If you still feel like it, take a detour to Alpe Rona with its small alpine dairy and regional products. Return via the same route or as a circular tour via the Tschengla plateau and Bludenz.
Hiking tip #3
Around the Lünersee
Lake Lünersee at an altitude of almost 2,000 m is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the whole of Vorarlberg - turquoise blue, quiet and surrounded by imposing rock faces. The Lünerseebahn cable car takes you comfortably up to the dam wall. From there, a well-maintained hiking trail leads around the lake - ideal for a relaxing day in a high alpine setting. If you wish, you can make a detour to the Douglasshütte.
Duration: approx. 2h
Length: approx. 6 km
Ascent & descent: approx. 100m
Starting point: Lünerseebahn
Hiking tip #4
Silvretta High Alpine Road & Bielerhöhe
Via the famous Silvretta High Alpine Road, you reach the Bielerhöhe and thus the turquoise-green Silvretta reservoir at over 2,000 m above sea level. The circular trail along the shore is easy to follow and offers an impressive panorama of Piz Buin & Co. on a clear day. Several places along the way invite you to pause, take photos or have a picnic. Refreshment stops can be found at the starting point.
Duration: approx. 2:30 (circular route)
Length: approx. 6 km
Ascent & descent: -
Hiking tip #5
Alpe Parpefiez & Palüdrunde
The Dorfbahnen Brand cable car takes you comfortably up to the high area. From the mountain station, a leisurely hiking trail leads towards Alpe Parpfienz - a farmed alpine pasture with homemade cheese, buttermilk and wonderful views. After an enjoyable break, you can hike further towards Palüd and complete the loop via well-maintained paths back to the mountain station.
Duration: approx. 3 h
Length: approx. 7 km
Ascent & descent: approx. 250 m
Starting point: Dorfbahn Brand
Hiking tip #6
Sunnaweg
The Sunnaweg is a quiet themed trail in several stages - it leads you along chapels, old pilgrim paths and viewpoints from Nüziders to Braz.
"Sunna" means "sun" in dialect - and that's exactly how the trail feels: warm, open, decelerated.
Whether you walk the whole route or just a section - you're not hiking for the altitude, but for the feeling.
Stage 1 | Nüziders - Bludenz
The first section begins directly in front of the hotel - a gentle route from Nüziders via Rungelin to Bludenz, past small chapels with views of the valley.
Stage 2 | Bludenz - Braz
From Bludenz, the Sunnaweg continues to Bürs and then along forest and meadow paths into the Klostertal valley to Braz - with sweeping views of the valley and plenty of little rest stops along the way.
Hiking tip #7
Hochjoch - Kapellalpe and Herzsee
The Hochjochbahn cable car takes you from Schruns to the panoramic hiking area around the Kapellalpe. A leisurely circular tour starts there to the farmed alpine pasture, on to the small Herzsee lake - a quiet place to linger - and back again. The paths are wide, easy to walk on and pleasant even for less experienced hikers.
Duration: approx. 3.5 h (circular route)
Length: approx. 7-8 km
Ascent & descent: 250 -300 hm
Information about our hiking tips:
Here are a few of our personal favorite routes - directly from the hotel.
They show you how versatile hiking in and around Nüziders can be.
Of course, there are countless other trails to discover - one summer alone is hardly enough.
Please note:
Check the current weather before every tour - you should not set off if there is a thunderstorm warning. Make sure you have suitable equipment (sturdy shoes, rain protection, sufficient water) and always choose the difficulty and length of the tour according to your own fitness level and experience.
Mountain railroads, mountain pastures and huts may be open or closed depending on the season and weather - please check the current operating times yourself.
